FIRST STAY WITH US, FOR SEVERAL NIGHTS?

A relaxed introduction before a longer stay

Would you like your dog to stay with us for several nights for the first time? We first arrange a trial or settling-in day and an introductory overnight stay together. This gives us time to get to know your dog calmly during exercise, social contact, meals, relaxation and sleep. Afterwards, we discuss the care that best suits your dog. This step applies only to a longer, multi-night stay, not to dog walking or daycare.

A warm introduction, not a test: together, we look at what your dog needs to feel comfortable.

A place to stay that feels like home

Personal care starts with careful observation

No two dogs are the same. We look at energy, character, habits and the need for rest. A small group gives us room to shape the day accordingly.

  • A familiar carer and a recognisable daily rhythm
  • A calm shared sleeping area with ergonomic dog beds
  • Personal attention to food and individual needs
  • Regular contact through the Time To Pet app

Activity and recovery

A day with room for adventure and rest

A rewarding day in care is not a stream of constant stimulation. We balance outdoor time, shared exploration, meals, sleep and simply having nothing to do for a while.

Waterland · immediately north of the IJ

Amsterdam’s back garden – and in truth much more

A small group of dogs walks calmly along a path through reeds, trees and flowers in the green landscape north of Amsterdam
Green space, water and room to move together.

Waterland is often called Amsterdam’s back garden, but that hardly does the area justice. Immediately north of the IJ begins a green, water-rich world of low meadows, lakes and long ditches.

Winding dykes, small bridges, cattle, reeds, farms and old villages shape the landscape. Here we walk in the wind, beneath dramatic skies and among countless birds. In summer people take to the water; in winter, when conditions allow, they skate.

This is the Netherlands as the world recognises it – surprisingly rural, yet very close to Amsterdam.

Messages received personally from clients

Trust grows from personal experience

We regularly receive positive messages from clients. On our own page, we bring together recurring themes from those messages without names, private details or a public review system.

Straightforward to arrange

Ready to register your dog?

Check availability for the dates you need. We will then assess together whether our small-scale care suits your dog.

Full fee transparency before you book

Why we do not publish our fees openly

We deliberately do not operate as an anonymous booking platform. Every new client first registers without obligation, allowing us to assess whether the dog, the requested care and our small-scale home-style approach are a good match. This allows us to show the current fees only for services that suit your request and are available.

This does not mean you have to decide without knowing the price. As soon as we approve your no-obligation registration, all current fees are visible in your personal account – on a computer and in the app, and always before you submit a booking request.

From the same account, you can manage booking requests, changes and cancellations yourself free of charge. Registration does not oblige you to book.

  • Current fees visible in your approved account in advance
  • Flexible booking and personal support when plans change
  • Free cancellation when your plans change
  • No unexpected surcharges, including during busy holiday periods

Contact us
Is Dog Hotel Amsterdam small-scale?

Yes. Care is provided in an intentionally small-scale, home-style setting, with personal attention and a familiar carer.

Can my dog stay overnight?

Yes. We offer day care and day and overnight care. Availability depends on the dates and a careful intake beforehand.

Will I receive updates during the stay?

Yes. You receive messages and photos about your dog’s stay through the Time To Pet app.

Do you offer care and transfer around international travel?

Yes. Pet Travel & Care combines a hotel stay in Amsterdam-Noord with pre-arranged personal transfers around travel by plane, train or ferry.

How do I check availability?

After your no-obligation registration has been completed and approved, you gain access to your personal account. There you can view current fees and availability and submit booking requests on a computer or in the app. You can also contact us by email.

Why are fees not published openly on the website?

We work on a small scale and first assess whether the requested care suits your dog and the services available to us. After approval of your no-obligation registration, all current fees are visible in your personal account before you submit a booking request. Registration does not oblige you to book; requests, changes and cancellations can be managed from your account free of charge.

Can I cancel free of charge?

Yes. If your plans change, we do not charge a cancellation fee.

Are there surcharges during busy holiday periods?

No. We do not add unexpected surcharges or raise the fee simply because it is busy or a holiday period.

Why can I not arrange a visit or tour?

The location is the daily living and sleeping environment of a small group of dogs and is also a private setting. Unfamiliar visitors, voices and scents can cause unrest and distract our attention from care. We therefore do not offer tours or informal visits. We get to know you and your dog through a careful initial assessment and personal contact. Address and directions are shared only for a confirmed handover or collection.

What health, behaviour and safety information should I share when applying?

Before confirmation, share all relevant information, including vaccination status, parasite prevention, allergies, food, medication, health, behaviour, previous incidents, escape risk and whether your dog is intact or in season. We then assess individually what can be offered safely and responsibly; complete information is essential for a suitable decision.

What are the drop-off and collection times?

There is no walk-in access. Drop-off and collection times are agreed in advance for each confirmed booking, so the handover and the dogs’ daily rhythm can remain calm. Follow the confirmed time and report a delay as early as possible.

What arrangements apply in an emergency?

The procedure is agreed individually before confirmation using current contact, emergency-contact, veterinary and medical details. Before booking, ask which permissions, arrangements and possible external costs apply to your dog; we do not make general assumptions about this. Liability and insurance conditions must likewise be checked individually before confirmation; we do not assume that particular cover applies.

When are a trial or settling-in day and first overnight stay relevant?

Only when you would like to book a longer, multi-night stay for a dog staying with us for the first time. We arrange both moments with you so your dog can settle in calmly and we can agree suitable care. They do not apply to dog walking or daycare.

Do the trial or settling-in day and first overnight stay also apply to dog walking or daycare?

No. This introduction is only intended for a dog staying with us for the first time, before a longer stay of several nights. If you choose dog walking or daycare, a trial or settling-in day and overnight stay are not part of the process; we will discuss a comfortable start for your chosen service with you personally.

Can my dog stay for several nights or longer?

Certainly. If you would like your dog to stay with us for several nights or longer, we first arrange a trial or settling-in day and an introductory overnight stay when it is your dog’s first stay with us. We then discuss the care level that best suits your dog. We review availability and suitability for each enquiry; an enquiry is not yet a booking. This introductory process does not apply to dog walking or daycare.

Can I bring my dog’s own food, and how do I book your meals?

Yes. Provide enough familiar meals for every feeding time throughout the stay, or add each fresh raw meat (game; BARF) or premium-kibble meal separately in the booking app. You pay per meal; no meal is automatically included.

Can I add pick-up and drop-off to my stay?

Yes. For each stay, you can select pick-up and drop-off in the booking app as an optional paid extra. It is not included and is provided only after availability has been checked and confirmed in advance. This is separate from the agreed drop-off and collection times when you bring or collect your dog yourself.

What care can I request with a stay?

Choose one or more options in the booking app or in consultation: nail trimming, ear cleaning, combing, brushing, washing and drying. This care is available only with a booked stay, subject to confirmation and paid separately; it is never included and is performed only when your dog can safely tolerate it.

Can you trim or maintain my dog’s nails?

Yes, when this can be done calmly and safely. We trim or maintain nails only while your dog tolerates it well and stop at any sign of stress or discomfort.

Do you clean my dog’s ears?

We gently clean only the visible outer ear. We do not enter or treat the ear canal. Redness, odour, discharge, itching or pain should first be assessed by a veterinarian.

Can you comb or brush my dog?

Yes, as light maintenance for loose hair and small, early tangles. Clipping, shaving, hand-stripping and removing severe matting belong with a professional groomer.

Can my dog be washed and gently dried?

Yes, by prior agreement, using a mild non-medicated dog shampoo and gentle drying that your dog comfortably accepts. We stop if your dog becomes uncomfortable.

Is this a full grooming service or medical treatment?

No. This is simple care during a booked stay, not a haircut, shave, hand-strip, styled groom, diagnosis or treatment. Please consult a professional groomer or veterinarian for those needs.

How do you assess whether a dog of a particular breed or crossbreed can stay with you?

Every dog is at the heart of our care, and we assess which type of stay best suits their temperament, wellbeing and care needs.

Can a crossbreed or dog of unknown ancestry stay with you?

A crossbreed or unknown ancestry is not in itself a barrier. Information from the owner and what we observe in the individual dog help us discuss which service and setting may be suitable and safe.
